Arrest Warrant Issued for Indian Actress Zareen Khan on Cheating Charges
New Delhi: In a recent development, a Kolkata court has issued an arrest warrant for renowned Indian actress Zareen Khan on charges of cheating.
According to Indian media reports, multiple complaints lodged against Zareen Khan in Kolkata. The investigating officer of the case has submitted a charge sheet against the actress in the Sealdah Court of Kolkata. The case against Zareen Khan dates back to 2018 when several complaints filed by an event management company alleging that she failed to fulfill her commitments for six pooja programs.
Despite repeated court notices, the actress did not make an appearance, leading to the issuance of the arrest warrant. When approached by Indian media for her response to the warrant, Zareen Khan stated, “I am unaware of this news. I am not aware of this. I am also surprised, and I am in touch with my lawyer. We will have a clearer picture after discussing the matter with him.” She also stated that she had been waiting for the court’s summons but had not received them.
According to the police, the event organizers had filed a formal complaint of cheating against both the Bollywood actress and her manager. Zareen Khan had previously cooperated with authorities during questioning and claimed that the organizers had provided false information. She alleged that they had falsely promised the presence of prominent ministers, including the Chief Minister of Bengal, at the event. However, it has later revealed to a smaller-scale event in North Kolkata.
Furthermore, Zareen Khan mentioned that there had been miscommunication regarding flight tickets and accommodation, which had prompted her to withdraw from the show. Police sources revealed that Zareen Khan’s had also filed a case against the event organizers in a local court. Following an investigation, a charge sheet has filed against Zareen Khan and her manager. While the manager applied for bail and appeared in court, the actress neither sought bail nor attended the court hearings.
