Shahid Afridi Reaction to Pakistan’s Historic Defeat Against India in Asia Cup
Following Pakistan’s historic 228-run defeat against India in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup, former national team captain Shahid Afridi took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the match.
In his tweet, Shahid Afridi acknowledged that winning and losing are inherent aspects of sports competitions but expressed disappointment at Pakistan’s inability to put up a fight against India. He praised India for delivering an excellent performance across all departments during the match.
Afridi offered words of encouragement to the Pakistani team, urging them to bounce back with a strong showing in their next match. Additionally, he extended his congratulations to Virat Kohli and KL Rahul for their centuries, recognizing their outstanding achievements in the game.
In the crucial Super Four stage encounter, India set a formidable target of 356 runs for the loss of only two wickets. In response, Pakistan’s national team managed to score just 128 runs in 32 overs.
This defeat marked Pakistan’s second-worst loss in One Day Internationals (ODIs), with their previous worst being a 234-run defeat to Sri Lanka in 2009.
Notably, the same match saw Indian batsman Virat Kohli achieving a remarkable milestone by becoming the fastest player to reach 13,000 runs in ODIs with a brilliant century.
