India Clinches Victory Over Nepal in Asia Cup 2023 with 10 Wickets

In a gripping encounter at Pali Kele, India triumphed over Nepal by 10 wickets in the Asia Cup 2023. Opting to field after winning the toss, India faced Nepal, who managed to post a total of 230 runs before bowled out in 48.2 overs.

Duckworth-Lewis Twist: Rain disrupted India’s batting innings, restricting them to a mere 17 runs in 2.1 overs. Consequently, India has set a revised target of 145 runs in 23 overs through the Duckworth-Lewis method.

India’s Commanding Chase: India efficiently chased down the target, reaching 145 runs in just 20.1 overs without losing a single wicket. The dynamic duo of Rohit Sharma, who contributed 74 runs, and Shubman Gill, with a notable 67 runs, anchored India’s successful run chase.

Nepal’s Batting Performance: In their initial innings, Nepal’s opener Kushal Bhartil provided a solid start with 38 runs, while Asif Shaikh contributed an impressive 58 runs. Nepal’s first wicket fell at 65 runs, followed by the second at 77 runs. The third and fourth wickets tumbled at 93 and 101 runs, respectively. Sompal Kami played a notable innings with 48 runs, complementing Kushal Bhartil’s performance.

Bowling Standouts: For India, Mohammad Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja proved to be the key wicket-takers, each securing three wickets. Additionally, Mohammad Shami and Shardul Thakur took one Wicket Each. Despite their strong bowling performance, India faced some fielding lapses, dropping three catches during the match.

Team Updates: Notably, India made a change in their lineup, substituting Jasprit Bumrah with Mohammad Shami. Both teams featured prominent players in their respective lineups, with India’s squad captained by Rohit Sharma, including the likes of Virat Kohli, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, and more. Nepal’s lineup, led by Rohit Podel, featured talented players such as Kushal Bhartel, Asif Shaikh, and Sandeep Lamichhane.
