Islamabad’s Metro Bus Fares Set to Double with Up to 100% Increase

With the recent surge in fuel prices, the general public faces more unwelcome changes, including an increase in bus fares. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is mulling over raising fare rates for the Islamabad’s Metro, Blue Line, and Islamabad’s Metro services.

Reliable sources have indicated that this proposal will be presented in the upcoming CDA board meeting. The final decision on fare hikes is expected to be made during this meeting.

Under consideration is a proposal to raise the fare for Green and Blue Line buses from Rs. 30 to Rs. 60. Furthermore, the Orange Line bus fare could increase from Rs. 60 to Rs. 100.

An anonymous CDA official cited the financial strain on the civic agency, stating that it lacks the resources to continue operating these buses at subsidized rates. Consequently, the fare increases for Blue, Green, and Orange Line buses are deemed inevitable.”
