Iftikhar Ahmed’s Achieves One of the Quickest Centuries in Asia Cup History

Iftikhar Ahmed’s spectacular display during the opening match of the 2023 Asia Cup in Multan has etched his name into the annals of the tournament’s history. Facing off against Nepal, Iftikhar’s remarkable innings showcased both tenacity and aggression, leading to a blazing century. Iftikhar Ahmed’s exceptional feat of achieving a century in a mere 67 balls has positioned him as the fourth-fastest century-maker in the history of the Asia Cup.

His performance now stands alongside cricketing greats such as Shahid Afridi, Sanath Jayasuriya, and Suresh Raina, who have left an indelible mark on the Asia Cup with their swift centuries. Afridi’s 53-ball knock in 2010 against Bangladesh and Jayasuriya’s 55-ball onslaught in 2008 hold the top spots, followed by Raina’s 66-ball century against Hong Kong in 2008. Iftikhar’s recent explosive inning, coupled with Shahid Afridi’s 68-ball century against Sri Lanka in 2010, adds to the prestigious list of Asia Cup’s fastest centuries.
